Day +14 with EFFORT

A lot has happen in the past 7 days. I have been very tired and it is really to focus on anything. Today is a better so I'm taking time to write.

First Happy Easter. I trust all of you and your families had a lovely day! Easter is actually my favorite holiday then Thanksgiving. I thank Jesus for giving us everlasting life ~ On the third day, he will rise again. Luke 18:33 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Now about me; mouth sores, shaved head, spiked temp, checked into hospital on Easter Sunday!

After taking 3 doses of medice, Methotrexate, in came the mouth sores. I remember having them last go round but I felt very blessed because they were not bad and didn't last but a few days. Not so this round...they came, and came. Plus and added special "coating" over the tongue and roof of mouth that was really gross. The good news is I can still eat , but it isn't very easy. Then swallowing was the next challenge. Once you start swallowing there is no going back...so just endure the pain for the moment. Pills definately is an issue, but I just decided the pain was only for a moment and I need to take them. The "pain" pill is helpful. The inside of my mouth looks like a puffed up mess! The nurse told me that my throat and stomach; all the way down is exactly the same. Oh, no wonder it is so uncomfortable?!

Hair. Now I had mixed answers on whether I would lose my hair, but I did; almost over night! The bald spot about 3" round I decided to go the next morning to the barber...the pics speak for themselves.

So let's see what grows in next!

+11 I went to the Clinic as usual. The night before I did have a 101.3 temp, but it didn't stay there, it went down to 99 in about two hours and I just went to bed. The "book" says to call the clinic if your hit 101.5. So I didn't call. The Clinic was not happy ! They decided to keep me overnight for montoring. After the word reach LeMaistre, he decided to start antibiotics, gave me two bags of blood, steriods,...and much more. Over 24 hours, I did not spike again but I did get some rashes (forehead, back shoulders, chest front, dry hands and feet) that could be "graft host" related, so I am going to be released tomorrow with some different meds, and then of course back to the clinic on Thursday.

I'm tired again, and I know I always have errors, but this one is probably really bad because I am not proof. Goodnight and I love you all! 16 more critial days...wait

Thinking of you hourly and praying for healing and guidance for your doctors. Hugs, masked kisses and prayers are flowing your way. xoxoxox elizabeth

  3. Bless your heart, Terry. I was so hoping you would skip right over any non-pleasant obstacles throughout your transplant. I'm so sorry to hear of the mouth, throat, and stomach sores -- it sounds just awful and very painful -- I truly hope these do not last long and you get some comfort in that area. Oh, and we were so hoping you would not lose your new curly grey locks -- but the good thing about that is that we all know how great you look without hair. :-) Wonder if it will come in the same over the summer. As always, thank you for the update even though you are so tired and feeling yucky -- it must not be easy, but all of us who care really appreciate the effort you put in to keep us informed of your progress -- and trials.

    Take care of yourself, girlfriend!!
