Let's GET IT ON!

Great news!

Let start with the important stuff; I have gained 8 pounds!!! OK. Now I thought getting excited about having chemo treatment was a weird thing to be happy about, but this definitely TOPS it ALL! Weight gain?~who knew. It wasn’t that I was too light, but coming into a transplant you can lose a lot of weight, so they wanted to “beef” me up a little bit. Thank you steroids.

Second on the list, my blood counts just keep getting better. Amen. Although they are not up to par, that is OK. Remember LesMaistre (transplant doctor) didn’t really care about my counts, he just want me to get into remission so that I can quickly transplant. Platelets are up to 56. Still a ways from 75, but I haven’t had a transfusion since 1/20/10 when they were at 17. So this is greatly improved without blood support. Thank you very much!

Third, the Allo-Transplant has been approved by my insurance. My sister, Linda Joan, will be coming on February 26th (lucky day!, Daddy’s birthday), and doing a round of testing to make sure that she is able to withstand the procedure, clear of any “cooties!” The results come in 7-10 days. Hopefully, all that will be clean and she will come the weekend before her spring break for the harvesting. It will entail 4 shots, one perday to multiply her stem cells and get them really moving. Almost busting out! On the 5th day the will take her stem cells via IV, for a few hours, and if needed, more on the 6th day. Please understand, I will not be transplanting at that time. These cells will be keep frozen until the appropriate time.

Transplanting will take place later, TBA. I am hoping ASAP, April or May. Love to you all and pray for Linda Joan’s testing to go well, as well as her harvesting.

No scripture today, but a quote ~ “ ...and if you or someone you love is in a struggle, take courage and press on because..., it is in the Depth of the struggle that God reaveals His eternal blessing.” Embrace the Struggle, Foreward, Tom Ziglar, Zig Ziglar’s son.

I thank the Lord for all his many, many blessings. Amen.

  1. That's wonderful. I've been keeping up with your counts through Pam, and, even though LeMaistre doesn't care about them vis a vis your transplant, it is a good benchmark of your general health for me. 2/26 is also Katherine's birthday - an auspicious day for us all! I'm coming to SA this weekend - are you going to be in town? Let's go eat.

  4. I'm not sure if you remember me (Kristen Leishman (now, Kristen Wright), but I graduated with Keli at TMI. I stumbled across your blog and have followed it for about a month now. Please know you are in my prayers and am strengthened by your faith!
